It is quite a long chapter on "The growth of technology", "Paint Roses and Castles" by Anne Young. ISBN 0-7153-9940-3
Too much to put here, but few excerpts:
1875 - "The canal population of G. Smith," I noticed this strange love for the issue of smuggling PaintingPainting ... Gay touching a cube, the upper edge of what embelished a small garland of flowers painted on the body Shocking Pink Design enirched and sunflowers offer, while in the background, a good basis for a cross gay cavlier brave or represented in full armor.
AJ Judaism (Narrow Boat Painting 1974) notes that the first sample was taken from the scene of the castle in 1873.
"Although the origins abound only speculate on theories, it is possible that the link was made with the large amount of metal objects and paper mache japannned could be the goods which in the Midlands at the end of 1700 ... The transportation of these products greatly helped by the network of channels employed in the region was ... The range of cheap mass-produced goodswas accessible to all.
The author suggests that families are forced into their boats with the arrival of the railroad, which compensates for the loss of their homes and gardens to live through the adoption of the "gardens" in their boat-shaped roses and daisies, the castle of the country maybe a dream home on Earth. So - it was a very minimalist fashion was the last time.
Roses are probably pretty easy to paint is an art form in which their ancestors were comfortable.
